Champion Fitness Center
Brand new in 2016, this 13,000' facility features cardiovascular training on the upper mezzanine and strength training on the lower level, with plenty of windows, natural light, and a view of the new pool! See a slideshow.
The cardio equipment is on a three-year lease, which means every three years we have brand new, state-of-the-art cardiovascular equipment. Almost every machine has a screen equipped with cable TV, mobile device connections, and internet access for web surfing, Pandora music, and more. Set up a free account to log workouts, set goals, and save favorite workouts.
The strength training area features two circuits of machines plus an entire free weight section. Personal cards can be kept on site to record your equipment settings and workout records. The new Hub area provides team training for up to 24 people with a focus on High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT).
Fitness instructors are always available in both the cardio and strength training areas to provide orientation (optional), or answer questions.
The JCC's Yoga/Pilates mat studio is located on our lower level beneath the spiral staircase. Newly renovated, our studio offers an open, quiet, meditative space featuring soft recessed and track lighting, wood flooring, blinds and updated equipment. The studio has everything you need for your yoga practice including mats, blocks, bolsters, straps and wedges. We also have a full selection of small Pilates mat apparatus including rings, foam rollers, weighted and unweighted balls. See our list of Yoga/Pilates classes.
The Pilates Apparatus studio is a warm, welcoming space overlooking our lower courtyard. It is equipped with four STOTT V2 Max Reformers and four Split-Pedal Stability Chairs. This cozy studio is for private, semi-private and small group Pilates apparatus training. See the Pilates Group Reformer class schedule.
The Group Cycling Studio is located next to the upstairs fitness center, overlooking our back field and the Erie Canal path. The newly renovated studio offers 25 new Keiser M3 bikes, and each bike has a computer that tells the rider how much resistance they are pushing (gear), distance covered, RPMs (pedal speed), and wattage (power output). The studio also has four flat screen televisions and individually controlled fans to accommodate members who like a fan and those who do not. See our group cycling schedule.
TRX Suspension Training
TRX Suspension Training® was created by a Navy SEAL to stay in peak condition while on missions where conventional fitness equipment was not available. Because of its effectiveness it is becoming the functional training system of choice for elite units of every branch of the Armed Forces. The TRX's effectiveness and versatility as the ultimate bodyweight exercise tool has pushed it far beyond the realm of the battlefield and into the JCC. The benefits of Suspension Training workouts are not just applicable to the performance elites; they are relevant for everyone who seeks a method to safely and rapidly improve fitness. Our gymnasium can be used as a full court or two half-courts for basketball, volleyball, and other adult and children leagues, as well as group fitness classes. There is bleacher seating and a scoreboard for special events. See the open gym schedule for drop-in times.
The Joseph Kozel Recreation Complex includes four outdoor hard surface tennis courts with windscreens, a softball diamond, fitness trail and a picnic pavillion area. Tennis lessons are offered from United States Tennis Association (USTA) professionals.
Pickleball is a fast-growing sport in the U.S., and its popularity is growing equally fast at the JCC! There are three indoor courts with open play four days a week and two outdoor courts. We also offer teaching clinics, as well as leagues you can join. See our recreational sports classes.
Racquetball and Handball
Enjoy these popular sports on four courts dedicated to racquetball and handball. The courts are available during all JCC open hours. During prime time, November to April, courts are reserved during limited hours for members 18 years old and up.
Walk, jog or run on our indoor track overlooking the full gymnasium. The track is coated with a non-slip Olympic-style rubberized flooring that provides maximum support and cushion. You can run or walk 16 laps to reach one mile.
Functional Training Studio
Ours is the only complete Functional Training Studio in town! It includes the original Purmotion Functional Training System, ropes, TRX, tires, sledgehammers, bands, agility ladders, medicine balls, plyometric boxes, kettlebells, and more. Read more about the Functional Training Studio.
Our PlayGym is a great place for kids--ranging from 2-10 years old--to expend their energy and have a great time doing it! A huge climbing structure is available for kids to explore. There is also a horizontal rock climbing wall—climb across instead of to avoid any fear of heights! Children five years and older can remain in the PlayGym alone, while children 2-5 must remain with a parent. Read more about the PlayGym.
The JCC's In Zone is an interactive center for kids ages 6-11 years old. It's a great place to get a daily dose of physical activity. The In Zone offers Cardio Kids Junior Circuit which includes rowing machines, treadmill, ellipticals, & a stationary bike. There are also many Wii & Xbox games to choose from including Just Dance, Kinect Sports, Mario Kart, and many more. The In Zone also offers Youth Programs such as Yoga, Run Club, Youth Karate & more!
