The Louis S. Wolk Jewish Community Center of Greater Rochester located at 1200 Edgewood Avenue alongside the Erie Canal in Brighton is currently seeking full-time and part-time housekeepers for our facility. We have multiple openings with a variety of shifts available!  

Available shifts:   

  • Saturday and Sunday: 8:00am – 4:30pm.
  • Monday – Friday: 7:00am – 3:30pm.

 General Job Summary: The housekeeper worker performs housekeeping duties that will ensure that the facility is clean and sanitized for all.

Job Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Cleaning shower stalls after each use, per Department of Health requirements.
  • Cleaning the entire Spa after shut down for daily cleaning.
  • Sweep, vacuum, mop, scrub, wax and polish floors using industrial vacuum cleaners and scrubbing and buffing machines.
  • Operate various mechanized cleaning equipment, such as vacuums, polishers, and buffers.
  • Wash windows as scheduled.
  • Completely strip and recoat all floor areas when necessary and as scheduled.
  • Use ladders, dusts and wash walls, cleans shower areas, bathrooms, sink areas, common areas, office, and all areas of classrooms, cleans ceiling fans and vents, dust all areas, furniture, light fixtures, windowsills.
  • Move furniture and equipment to clean areas. May remove stains from such surfaces as rugs, walls and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions.
  • Empty trash containers daily and responsible for disposal of trash.
  • Must handle various cleaning solvents, chemicals, etc.
  • Plan work schedule for major tasks.
  • May sweep walks and remove snow or perform other incidental seasonal tasks.
  • Report any needed repairs immediately to supervisor.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and members of the Facility.
  • May perform other duties as requested by management.

  This is a Union position and uniforms are provided.

Education and Experience

Experience: Less than one year related experience or training

Other Requirements:

Physical Demands: Stand, extensive walking, reach with hands and arms, grasping and twisting, climb or balance

  • Stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Bends and moves continually during working hours
  • Lift and/or move over 50 pounds
  • Use of computer keyboard

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to dust.
