Last Stop on Market Street

April 2–10, 2022

Based on the award-winning book of the same name by author Matt de la Peña, TYKEs’ musical production will be performed by a BIPOC cast. The book that inspired this theatrical production won the prestigious 2016 Newbery Medal, a Coretta Scott King Illustrator Honor, and a Caldecott Honor.

Young CJ is reluctantly visiting his force-of-nature Nana in a world considerably different from the one he’s used to. After an eye-opening bus ride, CJ travels a little closer to his roots and learns that things are not always what they seem. A hip-hoppin’, heart-thumpin’, toe-tappin’ musical joy ride about building community and finding beauty in everyday city life.

Best-enjoyed by children ages 5 and up.
