
Lifespan’s Living Healthy with Diabetes Self-Management Program
Tuesdays, July 26 – August 30, 10am – 12:30pm, Yiddish Center. $20 class contribution to Lifespan instructor is appreciated!
This evidence-based self-management program, developed by Stanford University, addresses physical, emotional and social impacts of living with or caring for someone with type 2 Diabetes. Learn about healthy strategies for living comfortably and remaining active. Sessions incorporate a “toolbox” which includes healthy eating, reading labels, exercising, managing stress, sleep, communication with loved ones & health providers, problem-solving, action planning, and managing difficult emotions. Also covered; factors impacting blood sugar, monitoring blood glucose, foot care, avoiding complications, and menu planning. 6 sessions 1x/week for 6 weeks, 2.5-hour sessions.
