Wellness Wednesday – Fall Prevention
RRH Wellness Wednesday – Fall Prevention
Wednesday, April 1 | 12:15–1:00 PM
In person at the JCC (Auditorium A) or on Zoom (recorded session)
Join us for Wellness Wednesday, a free community education series through Rochester Regional Health hosted by Nurse Trudy; a registered nurse certified in Oncology and Lifestyle Medicine. The first Wednesday of every month features our Physical Therapy Series, focused on helping older adults stay strong, mobile, and independent.
This month’s presentation will be led by Isabel Gogstetter, PT, a physical therapist with Rochester Regional Health, who will discuss fall prevention—an essential topic for healthy aging.
Falls are the leading cause of injury among older adults, and about 1 in 4 adults over age 65 falls each year. Even a minor fall can lead to fractures, loss of confidence, and decreased independence. The good news is that many falls are preventable with the right knowledge, exercises, and environmental changes.
In this session, you will learn:
-
Common risk factors that increase the likelihood of falling
-
Strategies to reduce chances of falling
-
Balance and the 3 specific systems in our body that help with balance
-
Simple yet effective exercises that can improve balance and stability
-
Practical home safety tips to reduce fall hazards
This talk is especially valuable for adults 55+, particularly those in their 70s and 80s, and 90s who want to stay strong, confident, and safe in their daily lives.
Community members do not need to be JCC members to attend. These sessions are free and open to the public as part of Rochester Regional Health’s commitment to empowering and supporting the health of our community.
Registration is required. You may register online in advance or sign in the same day at check-in. We never want registration to be a barrier—everyone is welcome.
Come learn practical ways to stay steady, active, and independent for years to come.
