Lifeguard Training

Must be at least 15 years of age and pass the following swim test: Swim 300 yards continuously, using the following strokes: 100 yards front crawl using rhythmic breathing, 100 yards of breaststroke, 100 yards of either breaststroke or front crawl. Must also be able to swim 20 yards, surface dive 7-10ft, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface and swim back 20 yards holding object with both hands.

This course will be a Red Cross blended learning course. Combining required online learning and in-person training. Upon passing the pretest, online learning must be completed prior to first day of class. 

Pretest October 9th, 4:30-7:30pm.

2 Lanes of the JCC pool will be in use for this course

Water Safety Instructor Course

This in-depth course combines classroom learning and in-water practice to learn the knowledge and skills required to teach swim lessons. Upon completion of the course and a passing grade on the exam, students receive the American Red Cross Water Instructor Certification. 

This is for participants ages 16 and up. Participants must be 16 by the last day of the course, proof of age is required of all participants on the first day of the course. Class will meet every Wednesday from 5:00-9:00 from October 11th to November 15th. Attendance at all sessions is mandatory.
