Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed
April 15–23, 2023
Book, script and lyrics by Mo Willems.
Music by Deborah Wicks La Puma.
A high-energy rock ‘n’ roll parable with a powerful message! The hit children’s book by award-winning author Mo Willems bursts on stage to explore what can happen when we have the courage to be ourselves. Wilbur and all his fellow naked mole rats have always been, well…naked. Wondering what other possibilities are out there, Wilbur discovers a love for clothing. When word of his new passion turns his community upside down, he proves there’s no need to be just like everyone else. Ages 3+

Crafted from the actual testimonies of Rochester-based Holocaust Survivors, CenterStage Theatre and the Louis S. Wolk Jewish Community Center of Greater Rochester commissioned this new play to put a human face on this important time in history. A cautionary tale on the risks of normalized hate, this inspirational and uplifting play ensures that the voices of our Survivors will never be silenced.
SURVIVORS is available for tours to middle schools, high schools, colleges, and community organizations.
The play is also available for licensing.
