Class Descriptions

The 4 following classes do not require our Unlimited Fitness Class Add-on ($30/mo) if you have an insurance-based membership: Active Agers Body Conditioning, SilverSneakers Classic, Silver&Fit Experience, and SilverSneakers Yoga

The following classes are free to members who have our Unlimited Fitness Class Add-on as part of their membership. At this time, we are not offering a pay-per-class option.

Aqua Aerobics Moderate intensity: This class will help provide muscle strength and flexibility while simultaneously working on your cardiovascular system.

Aqua Body Strong – Water Fitness Board Moderate Intensity: Come lay, sit, kneel or stand up in this Pilates based stand-up paddle board class! Your balance on the board will activate core strength, stability and fire up your major muscle groups.

Aqua Cardio & Strength Low to moderate intensity:  This uniquely blended Aqua class will give you strength training, agility, cardio, and deep gentle stretching all in one.

Aqua Zumba Moderate intensity: Latin beats follow exercisers into the pool in this unique blend of water aerobics and dance.

HydroRider Moderate intensity: Spin your wheels in the water in this unique indoor cycling class in the pool. Class will be held in the Family Pool. *Aqua shoes required. If you are new to the class, please arrive 5-10 minutes early for bike set up.

Active Agers Body Conditioning Low to moderate intensity: This class is geared towards moderately active older adults who regularly exercise 1-2 days per week.  This class is designed to increase muscular strength and cardiovascular endurance, while working on flexibility, joint stability, dynamic balance and coordination. Various equipment will be utilized.  A chair is provided for modifications.

Beat Based Cycling Moderate to high intensity: This upbeat and intense class will take you through guided cycling drills, all while being driven by the beat of the music.  Learn how to control speed, resistance, and use of power to develop your cardio strength!

BodyPump Moderate to high intensity: The original barbell and weight class.  Squat, press, curl, and lift your way to a new you.  This class will change the way you look and feel, and will improve your physical ability.  

Boot(y)camp Moderate to high intensity: Shape, sculpt, and strengthen in this format that will keep you wanting more! Combining the use of bodyweight, resistance bands and dumbbells, this class will focus on toning your glutes and abdominals, while also working other muscle groups for a full-body burn. 

Cardio Fit Low to moderate intensity: An aerobics class designed to fit high or low impact needs. Choose your intensity level and train and improve your cardiovascular system. Suitable for all.

Core & More Low to moderate intensity: Work muscles mainly responsible for the core and include upper and lower body muscles, with an extended flexibility/stretching segment. Suitable for all.

Endurance Power Based Cycling Moderate to high intensity: This class will challenge your endurance and uses the data available on our Matrix bikes to create growth and power in your cycling workout!

Gentle Yoga Low intensity: Experience deep relaxation and pain free movement using basic yoga postures to build strength and flexibility. This class moves at a slower pace to encourage gentle stretching and the use of props for support. Suitable for all.

Guided Stretching Low intensity: This full body stretching class will take you through movements focused primarily on tighter muscles.  Foam rollers, and other various props will be utilized.  Suitable for all.

Hatha Yoga Low intensity: This class is an all-levels practice incorporating breath, body, and mind. The practice includes attention to foundational and alignment principles with poses that offer an engaging yet mindful full-body challenge, all with a sense of playfulness and creativity. There will be dedicated time for stillness, reflection, and meditation. Progressions and modifications will be shown.

HIGH Fitness Moderate to High intensity: HIGH Fitness is modernized, easy to follow, choreographed aerobics set to music you know and love. Old-school aerobics are mixed with modern fitness techniques, such as high intensity interval training, plyometrics, cardio and toning intervals, and more. Options for all levels are provided. You can go high or you can go low, but you will always leave feeling HIGH!

HIIT High intensity: High Intensity Interval training incorporates short periods of intense anaerobic exercises, followed by short periods of recovery, delivering maximum results in less time. Various equipment will be utilized, Modifications will be shown.

HydroFusion Low intensity: Love Hydrorider but also want some off bike aerobics –this is the class for you! Spin your wheels in the water in combination with off the bike Aqua Aerobics to enjoy the best of both worlds.

HydroRider Low intensity: Spin your wheels in the water in this unique indoor cycling class in the pool. Aqua shoes required. 

LIT Low to moderate intensity: This Low Impact Circuit Training class will give you a full body strength workout, in an invigorating, circuit style class.  You will use a variety of equipment such as a rower, TRX straps, dumbbells, battle ropes, resistance bands, a step, and more!

Line Dance Low to moderate intensity: Learn popular steps and dances you can take out on the town. Workout and learn at the same time. Suitable for all.

Mixed Levels Mat Pilates Moderate intensity: A system of physical conditioning exercises involving low-impact moves and stretches designed to strengthen muscles of the torso. Get strong from the inside out! Suitable for all.  

Mixed Levels Vinyasa Yoga Low to moderate intensity: A class that challenges both beginners and advanced students alike, with a thoughtful arrangement of poses. This class offers proper modifications for beginners and options for advanced students. A great way to experience the mind/body connection. Suitable for all levels.

NIA Low intensity: An inspired barefoot dance-workout for body and soul. Danced to original world music, the class uses simple steps and expressing free-dance to create a fun and uplifting workout. Ideal for all fitness levels.

Power Core Flow Yoga Moderate intensity: This class focuses on deep core and upper body work.  It will also bring you to a deeper experience, increasing flexibility, strength and mental clarity through a challenging and mindful yoga practice. This class is suitable for all with modifications. 

Power Vinyasa Yoga Moderate intensity: This vinyasa flow class will move through poses at a quicker pace than our mixed levels offering. This class will focus on both the breath and the movement.  Come challenge yourself in this revitalizing and refreshing offering.

Qigong Low intensity: Want to feel calmer and have more energy? Qigong is a traditional exercise that is known to improve health, increase vitality and lower stress. Water Method Qigong participants stay within 70% of their range of motion, which relaxes the nerves and fascia and promotes healing in a unique way. Over time, Qigong practice can clear and sharpen the mind and promote physical and emotional balance. This class is ideal for any and all fitness levels.
Ride & Tone Moderate to high intensity: This interval style, blended-format class will challenge your cardiovascular endurance with 30 minutes of cycling, followed by 30 minutes of load-based strength training to intensify your workout! If you are new to the bike, please arrive 5-10 minutes early for bike set up.

SilverSneakers Classic Low intensity: A variety of exercises designed for the senior adult–increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living. Use hand weights, resistance bands, and a ball. The class remains seated for the majority of the class.

SilverSneakers Yoga Low Intensity: Move your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of postures designed to increase flexibility, balance, and range of movement. 

Silver&Fit Experience Low to moderate intensity: For moderately active older adults who regularly exercise 1–2 days per week. This class is designed to increase and challenge flexibility, joint stability, dynamic balance, coordination, muscular strength and cardiovascular endurance. This class is done standing.

Social Walking Club: An active walk utilizing various pathways surrounding the JCC, Erie Canal included! PLUS guided balance + stretching cool down at the end. Meet outside main entrance prior to class start time. 

Strong Nation Moderate to high intensity: A fun and effective workout that combines body weight, muscle conditioning, cardio and plyometric training.  This workout is similar to a HIIT bodyweight class, that is synced to original music that’s been specifically designed to match every single move. Push your limits!

Surge Fit Moderate to high intensity: An energizing HIIT workout that will get you results fast! High intensity cardio tracks that push fat-burning systems into high gear are intertwined with targeted high rep strength training tracks, using dumbbells, that shape and tone your body for maximum results. Popular music driven highs and lows combined with a motivating group atmosphere will get your heart rate and muscles surging to push you to your personal best. Feel the surge!

TRX & HIIT Moderate to high intensity: Suspension training with a combination of High Intensity Interval Training will give you a full body workout, using your own bodyweight!

TRX Sculpt & Stretch Moderate intensity: This class is a TRX suspension workout using body weight to develop strength, balance, flexibility, and core stability simultaneously. Class will end with guided stretching.  Modifications will be shown.

UpBeat Barre Moderate intensity: This workout is a muscular endurance based workout that combines strength training, ballet, yoga, and pilates with popular music to create an UPBEAT, fun, and balanced workout with varying levels of intensity. Designed to include everyone, UpBeat puts the FUN in FUNctional movement by utilizing a full range of motion mixed with small muscle movements.

WerQ Moderate to High intensity: A wildly addictive cardio dance workout based on the hottest pop and hip hop music. Suitable for everyone!

Zumba Moderate to high intensity: Dance your way through a good sweat! Infused with Latin, hip hop and international influences, you won’t even know that you are exercising. Feel the music and let it move you. Ven a bailar con nosotros!

Zumba Gold Low to moderate intensity: Based on the same dance used in the original Zumba class, the Gold class is less intense with dance routines designed for beginners and older adults using modified movement.

Class Guidelines


Classes require the Fitness Class add-on Membership.

All classes require registration – in person & virtual.

Registration for classes will open 7 days before class start time.

If you are unable to attend a class that you are registered for, please call the front desk or email emancarella@jccrochester.org to cancel.   

Kids ages 9-12 may take classes if a parent/guardian is present, and must possess the Add-On membership.

Kids ages 13+ may take classes without a parent/guardian present, and must possess the Add-On membership.

Please wear proper footwear and workout attire.

Zoom Directions

Please note that Zoom has implemented a security feature in order to help with authentication of Zoom users. Only those with a Zoom account will be permitted to enter meetings. This means you will need to be signed into your own Zoom account in order to access virtual classes.  To create a Zoom account, please visit the Zoom website.

To access the virtual class after registering, copy & paste the Zoom link found on the registration page under “Description” into your web browser – the link does not get sent in the confirmation email.

We are streaming a live, in-person class – audio and video may not sync up at all times.  If you experience a major lag, please exit the class and re-enter.

Not all classes are available virtually, those that are will be noted in the weekly schedule above.

Please note that some classes will be using specific equipment found at the JCC.

Please keep your microphone muted for the duration of class.
