TYKEs (Theatre Young Kids Enjoy) consistently ranks as the #1 Children's Theatre Company in Rochester by KidsOutAndAbout.com, and one of the top ten most popular places in all of Rochester to bring kids. There's no better place in the nation than TYKEs KidStage at JCC Day Camp to have a fun-filled summer camp adventure PLUS an extraordinary theater experience.

At KidStage, your camper's days will be chock-full of wholesome outdoor activities, and without even realizing it, your camper will also be...

  • improving their reading and literary skills by analyzing scripts and reading out loud every day.
  • receiving music lessons with our professional music expert. While we sing, we also spend time learning musical concepts and some basic note reading
  • boosting their health and fitness while learning dance elements with our professional choreographer.
  • expanding teamwork and socialization skills.
  • learning to brainstorm and use critical thinking skills.
  • enhancing their poise, self-esteem, public speaking, articulation, and confidence.

Register for Traditional Day Camp for Week 1 (June 29-July 2). KidStage starts Week 2 (July 6-10).

Week 2, July 6-10: CSN, Camp Shopping Network
KidStage campers invent their own quirky, wacky summer toys and foods, then film TV commercial spoofs extolling their clever benefits on CSN (our Camp Shopping Network). Un-meltable ice cream, floating slip-n-slides, sand-castle-building robots, chocolate pool noodles – the sky’s the limit to our campers’ creativity!

Weeks 3 + 4, July 13-24: McQuadle: A Dragon’s Tale
In this hilarious, clever comedy, McQuadle the dragon needs to visit the evil queen to discover his true purpose in life – and be home in time for dinner. Three storytellers with crazy personalities of their own lead the audience through this fun adventure that includes audience participation, laugh-out-loud silly jokes and sight gags.
Performance dates: July 23rd at 5pm for family and July 24th during camp. Kids must enroll for both weeks.

Week 5, July 27-31: The Amazing Amalgamation Celebration
This week's musical theater workshop is the perfect spot for theater kids who love to sing and dance. We’ll prepare two songs featuring a combination of various dance/choreography elements – a hint of ballet, a dollop of hip hop, a smidgeon of line dancing, and even a splash of tap (with a possible cartwheel thrown in for good measure)! No previous experience – or special shoes – needed.

Week 6 + 7, August 3-14: Just KID-in’!
A brand new, never-seen-before uproariously funny, ever-so-slightly irreverent KidStage play written especially for our campers this summer! It’s an Ellen DeGeneres-inspired variety-comedy-talk show featuring a witty “on air” role for every camper, complete with musical interludes!
Performance dates: August 13th at 5pm for family and August 14th during camp. Kids must enroll for both weeks.

Week 8, August 17-21: Once Upon a Bovine: A Very Original Fractured Fairy Tale
One of our most popular KidStage programs returns for another summer! Campers work together to brainstorm crazy, fun ideas as they create their own original fractured fairy tale bedtime story (including a cow who may or may not jump over a moon, naturally).

Week 9, August 24-28: Improvisation Sensation
Campers spend the week learning and practicing the most fun and exciting improvisational theater games ever, culminating in an audience-interaction performance for campers and counselors on the last day of camp!
