Bella!

Documentary  |  2023  |  102 min.  English  |  USA
Director: Jeff L. Lieberman

When Bella Abzug entered Congress in 1970, women could not have their own credit cards, the LGBTQ+ community was constantly harassed, and the old boys’ club that ruled America refused to recognize the country’s diversity. Bella! shows how she used her Bronx swagger and famous hats to fight forces from the right and the left and become the most loved – and hated – figure in American politics. Telling intimate, little-known stories about Bella include Hillary Clinton, Gloria Steinem, Barbra Streisand, and more. Bella! delves into a colorful and gritty era where one woman sacrificed her own political ambitions for future generations of female leaders.
