Writer-director Orit Fouks Rotem’s dramatic narrative feels utterly real because it is based closely on her own teaching experiences and features a mix of seasoned and non-professional actors. A heartfelt portrait of art’s power to unite disparate communities, Cinema Sabaya won five Ophirs (Israeli Academy Awards) including Best Picture, Director, and Supporting Actress, and was Israel’s entry in the 95th Academy Awards.
