Once upon a time there was a magical kingdom called The Catskills, a resort area a few hours north of New York City where Jews of all classes, from wealthy celebrities to working-class immigrants and Holocaust Survivors, found refuge from the summer heat. Stuffed with shtick from former waiters, entertainers, and visitors telling tales of the Borscht Belt’s family-run resorts and bungalows, The Catskills is an immensely entertaining, totally satisfying film full of familiar memories, unfamiliar history, and lots of fun.
Enjoy a bagel & a schmear after the film!
