RRH Wellness Wednesday: Harmony Within: Exploring the Wonders of our Gut Microbiome & Monthly PBWF Pot-luck

RRH Wellness Wednesdays feature Rochester Regional clinicians and experts sharing their experiences and knowledge in an effort to improve your health and wellness, and to help connect you with specialists when you’re interested in individualized care. Check each week for the new topic!

Dr. Arunie Malwatta, Clinical Nutrition Expert and Lifestyle Medicine Physician, has served as a Primary Care Physician for nearly two decades, honing her expertise in Clinical Nutrition for the past seven years. Dr. Malwatta’s fervor for her field extends beyond mere practice; it encompasses her passion for Lifestyle Medicine and preventive care, where she has discovered her true “ikigai” – a Japanese concept denoting one’s reason for being and source of fulfilment. Driven by a desire to empower individuals to lead healthier lives, she combines her medical acumen with a holistic approach, aiming not only to treat ailments but also to prevent them through lifestyle interventions. Please join Dr. Malwatta as she educates us on the gut microbiome aka the “brain” of the gastrointestinal system.

**Please note Wellness Wednesday has moved from Erdle Lounge to Auditorium C at the JCC***

Please join us in person in Auditorium C from 12:15 – 1pm at the JCC.

We’d love to hear from you! Send your comments, suggestions and questions to RRHWellness@RochesterRegional.org

In Lifestyle Medicine, we teach patients how to incorporate more plants into their diet. Did you know adding more plants to your diet on a regular basis can help with weight loss, GI issues, improved immunity, enhance sleep and even aid in our mental health. All from plants! Variety is key and new research shows we should be aiming for a variety of 30 different plants per week. We encourage you to try a new recipe and/or put plant-based spin on oldie but goodie favorite recipe.

Please join us for our monthly Plant Based Whole Foods Pot-luck.  Kindly bring a dish to share for about 6 – 8 people +.  Please provide the recipe and/or list of the ingredients. Utensils provided.

***If you need ideas on what to bring, please stop by the RRH office and check out our library of recipe books or visit Lacey in Erdle Lounge.

Zoom is available for those who cannot attend in person.
