RRH Wellness Wednesday: RRH Expert Optometrist, Dr. Marc Deeley & Cataracts & PBWF Pot-Luck!!

RRH Wellness Wednesdays feature Rochester Regional clinicians and experts sharing their experiences and knowledge in an effort to improve your health and wellness, and to help connect you with specialists when you’re interested in individualized care. Check each week for the new topic!

Cataracts are often associated with older age. We sometimes notice the clouding of the lens inside the eye that may result in poor vision that does NOT improve with prescription glasses. Dr. Deeley will help us understand the anatomy of the eye and then focusing specifically on the human lens. Dr. Deeley will explain how the lens changes with age resulting in Cataracts. He will discuss how cataracts are diagnosed, and what to expect from cataract surgery (pre, during and post). Latest evidence-based research and more will be presented!!! Please join us for this free educational opportunity!!

***Please note Wellness Wednesday has moved from Erdle Lounge to Auditorium C at the JCC***

Please join us in person in Auditorium C from 12:15 – 1pm at the JCC.

We’d love to hear from you! Send your comments, suggestions and questions to RRHWellness@RochesterRegional.org

In Lifestyle Medicine, we teach patients how to incorporate more plants into their diet. Did you know adding more plants to your diet on a regular basis can help with weight loss, GI issues, improved immunity, enhance sleep and even aid in our mental health. All from plants! Variety is key and new research shows we should be aiming for a variety of 30 different plants per week. We encourage you to try a new recipe and/or put plant-based spin on oldie but goodie favorite recipe.

Please join us for our monthly Plant Based Whole Foods Pot-luck. Kindly bring a dish to share for about 6 – 8 people +. Please provide the recipe and/or list of the ingredients. Utensils provided.

***If you need ideas on what to bring, please stop by the RRH office and check out our library of recipe books or visit Lacey in Erdle Lounge.

Hope to see you there! Nurse Trudy from RRH and Lacey Witcher from Lifespan
