RRH/JCC WELLNESS WEDNESDAYS: Margaret Fitzpatrick, RRH Physical Therapist, Hip/Joint Pain & Plant Based Pot-Luck!

RRH/JCC WELLNESS WEDNESDAYS: Margaret Fitzpatrick, RRH Physical Therapist, Hip/Joint Pain & Plant Based Pot-Luck!
Did you know the hip is one of the most mobile joints in the body! The hip joint is a connection between the legs and torso. Specifically, the femur and pelvis.
People often struggle with pain or stiffness in the joint because our hips do a lot of work from running after the dog to squatting down to tie our shoes. Pain from the hip joint can be anywhere from the pelvis, groin and legs.

RRH Expert and Physical Therapist, Margaret Fitzpatrick, will be presenting on hip pain for Wellness Wednesday. Margaret will be educating us on potential causes for the pain and most importantly, giving us tools to use. She will educate us on evidence-based practices such as stretching and strengthening exercises, that you can add to your daily routine.

We’d love to hear from you! Send your comments, suggestions and questions to RRHWellness@RochesterRegional.org
Zoom is available for those who cannot attend in person.

In Lifestyle Medicine, we teach patients how to incorporate more plants in their diet on a regular basis. The evidence surrounding the benefits of a more plant predominate diet continues to emerge for a number of chronic diseases including heart disease, diabetes and cancer.

Did you know consuming beans, legumes, fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and whole grains can help you live longer and have improved quality of life, all from plants! Evidence based research shows plants help aid in brain health, energy level, weight loss, GI issues, improved immunity, enhance sleep and the list goes on and on. Variety is key and new research shows we should be aiming for 30 different types plants per week.

We encourage you to try a new recipe and/or put plant-based spin on oldie but goodie. If you are short of time and don’t feel like cooking, whole foods work just fine!

Please join us for our monthly Plant Based Whole Foods Pot-luck. Kindly bring a dish to share for about 6 – 8 people +. Please provide the recipe and/or list of the ingredients. Utensils provided. Drop off your PBWF dish to pass to Lacey in Erdle Lounge on the way to Aud C for Wellness Wednesday!
***If you need ideas on what to bring, please stop by the RRH office and check out our plant-based library or visit Lacey in Erdle Lounge.
Hope to see you there! Nurse Trudy from RRH and Lacey Witcher from Lifespan
