Set “a year from now” during a fictional war, The Vanishing Soldier gives us the eighteen year-old Shlomi, who makes the split-second decision that he’d rather be with his girlfriend than face death in seemingly endless combat. Fleeing the battlefield, he unintentionally becomes a man on the lam, as he discovers through the incessant drumbeat of the media that the army believes he was kidnapped. Mixing intense drama and jet-black comedy, The Vanishing Soldier is a glimpse at a man who is trying to escape both combat and himself.
