March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, a time dedicated to increasing awareness about colorectal cancer, the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States. While over-all rates have been declining due to improved screening, cases among younger adults (under 50) are on the rise, making early detection and education more critical than ever!
Please join Dr. Steve Ognibene, Steven J Ognibene, MD | Rochester Regional Health, for this educational opportunity where he discusses the importance of awareness, regular screenings and a healthy lifestyle in reducing the risk of colorectal cancer. Dr. Ognibene will bring you the latest up-to-date research, review statistics on prevalence and help you understand risks such as inflammatory conditions, family history and discuss what role genetics play in all this.
By staying informed and proactive, we can work towards better prevention, early detection and ultimately saving lives! Please consider joining us or this FREE educational offering open to the community. Bring a friend, a loved one and let’s help spread the message. Applied knowledge saves lives!
In Rochester Regional Lifestyle Medicine, we teach patients how to incorporate more plants in their diet on a regular basis. The evidence surrounding the benefits of a more plant predominate diet continues to emerge for preventing a number of chronic diseases including heart disease, diabetes and cancer. Did you know consuming beans, legumes, fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and whole grains can help you live longer and have improved quality of life, all from plants! Evidence based research shows plants help aid in brain health, energy level, weight loss, GI issues, improved immunity, enhance sleep and the list goes on and on. Variety is key and new research shows we should be aiming for 30 different types plants per week.
