RRH Wellness Wednesday: Eating for Kidney Health

RRH Wellness Wednesdays feature Rochester Regional clinicians and experts sharing their experiences and knowledge in an effort to improve your health and wellness, and to help connect you with specialists when you’re interested in individualized care. Check each week for the new topic!

Rochester Regional Health expert and registered dietitian Sharon Stall, RD, MPH will be joining us for Wellness Wednesday to talk about eating for kidney health. Sharon has been working with the dialysis team at RRH for years and is also affiliated with the National Kidney Foundation serving Upstate and Western NY. Please join us for a free educational offering on eating for kidney health.

A heart healthy, plant-based diet, lower in salt, rich in potassium is the backbone for a kidney healthy diet. However, when kidneys have a reduction in function, called chronic kidney disease (CKD) the story changes. In CKD often salt is restricted, protein intake is addressed, and potassium and phosphorus intake are discussed. The diet for CKD is individualized: it is not one recipe for all. This afternoon we will learn what foods are good to keep those kidneys going strong and how to prevent CKD.

Please join us in person in the Erdle Lounge from 12:15 – 1pm at the JCC.

We’d love to hear from you! Send your comments, suggestions and questions to RRHWellness@RochesterRegional.org
