TYKEs’ announces auditions for the Spring musical A Bad Case of Stripes, based on the famous book by David Shannon.

Sunday, December 14 at 10am, JCC Hart Theater, 1200 Edgewood Avenue in Brighton

• No reservations required – please arrive promptly by 10am. 

• PAID roles for ADULT actors of any gender, ethnicity, body type, and age. Performers receive $75 per performance (minimum of 19 performances), meals on two-show days, and a free JCC membership. 

• Eight actors will play multiple roles (see below). 

• Directed by Stephanie Roosa, choreography by Rory Cushman, music direction by Jim Schmitt.

• Rehearsals begin February 19; matinee performances April 10 through 20 including weekday performances. No rehearsals on Fridays or Saturdays. Sides and complete rehearsal/performance schedule available in advance upon request.

• Please come prepared with at least 16 bars of an up-tempo song appropriate for children’s theatre (accompanist provided) and wear especially comfortable, casual clothes/shoes appropriate for dancing and movement. Important: please bring a complete list of any conflicts.

• Roles are below; all roles except for Camilla can be played by any gender. Vocal ranges are guides; songs may be transposed as necessary.

  • Camilla Cream: New girl at school trying to fit in. Strong Mezzo/Belt (G3-D5)
  • Mrs.Cream/Mr.Cream: Camilla’s hard-working single parent (G3-C5)/(G2-C4)
  • Berry: Depressed and distant friend who becomes Camilla’s lifeline (G3-D5)/(G2-D4). Strong vocalist, guitar experience is a plus.
  • Joy/John: Berry’s single parent, news reporter with a big heart (B3-D5)/(B2-D4)
  • Nick/Nicky: Avid sports fan and epic storyteller with rock n’ roll skills (a2-Eb4)/(A3-Eb5)
  • Sarah/Sam: A spunky kid with a surprisingly powerful operatic voice (C4-C5)/(C3-C4)
  • Austin: Crooning Texas cowboy with a deep jazzy voice (Bb2-Ab3)/)Bb3-Ab4)
  • Jo: Morbid gamer and fiction-lover (C4-D5)/(C3-D4)
