Wednesday, September 30 12:15–1:00 PM
JCC – Auditorium A | In Person & Recorded on Zoom
JCC – Auditorium A | In Person & Recorded on Zoom
Join us for an important and thoughtful community conversation about Medical Aid in Dying (MAID) in New York State and at Rochester Regional Health
Presenters Adam Herman, MD, HMDC, FAAHPM, with Palliative Medicine and Hospice Services at Rochester Regional Health, and Trudy Arsenault, RN, BSN, OCN, DipACLM and Program Manager Lead for Medical Aid in Dying at RRH, will provide clear, factual information about this important end-of-life option.
Together, they will discuss what Medical Aid in Dying is—and what it is not—the New York State law, patient eligibility and safeguards, the role of healthcare providers, ethical considerations, and how the process is approached at Rochester Regional Health. The discussion will also address common questions and misconceptions and explore the importance of patient autonomy, informed decision-making, dignity, and compassionate end-of-life care.
This session is intended to provide education in a respectful and supportive environment. Community members, patients, caregivers, families, and healthcare professionals are welcome to attend.
As Dr. Herman shares:
“We cannot direct the wind, but we can adjust the sails.”
Join us to learn, ask questions, and better understand Medical Aid in Dying and its place among end-of-life care options
Community members do not need to be JCC members to attend. These sessions are free and open to the public as part of Rochester Regional Healths commitment to empowering and supporting the health of our community.
Registration is required. You may register online in advance or sign in the same day at check-in. We never want registration to be a barrier-everyone is welcome.
