Wellness Wednesday: Hypertension — Know Your Numbers, Protect Your Health

Wednesday, September 23 | 12:15–1:00 PM
JCC – Auditorium A | In Person & Recorded on Zoom

Join us for an informative Wellness Wednesday with Wendy Cody, MS, PA-C, DipACLM, a Physician Assistant, certified Lifestyle Medicine provider, and Senior Director of Informatics at Rochester Regional Health.

High blood pressure is common as we age and often has no obvious symptoms, yet it is an important risk factor for heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, and other health concerns. For adults 65 and older, understanding your blood pressure numbers—and knowing what you can do to improve them—is an important part of maintaining health, independence, and quality of life.

Wendy will discuss what blood pressure numbers mean, why hypertension becomes increasingly important with age, and practical steps that can help prevent or manage high blood pressure.

With her background in Lifestyle Medicine, Wendy brings a whole-person perspective to hypertension. She will explore how evidence-based lifestyle factors—including nutrition, physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, healthy relationships, and avoidance of risky substances—can work alongside appropriate medical care to support healthier blood pressure and overall cardiovascular health.

Whether you have hypertension, are trying to prevent it, care for someone with high blood pressure, or simply want to stay healthy as you age, this session will provide practical information you can use in everyday life.

Free and open to community members, patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals.

Community members do not need to be JCC members to attend. These sessions are free and open to the public as part of Rochester Regional Healths commitment to empowering and supporting the health of our community.
Registration is required. You may register online in advance or sign in the same day at check-in. We never want registration to be a barrier-everyone is welcome.
Zoom is available for those who cannot attend in person.
