Wellness Wednesday: Pause and Refresh: An updated look at menopausal health and wellness & Pot-Luck
Wednesday, September 25 *12:15pm – 2 pm: Aud C
RRH Expert, Dr. Maureen Slattery, will be joining us for both Wellness Wednesday and our monthly plant-based pot-luck on 9/25. She will be educating the group on some basic physiology and reviewing symptoms that are due to lack of estrogen. She will educate us on what the research says in 2024 about SAFETY of treatment for menopausal symptoms.
We know the initial research trial that took place in 2002 from the World Health Initiative caused a lot of misinformation and women has been terrified of hormone replacement therapy ever since. Dr. Slattery will break down the information, guide us on what the latest up to date evidence-based research says to date, and also discuss how to live your healthiest life in menopause. Please consider joining us for the presentation and pot-luck to follow.
In Lifestyle Medicine, we teach patients how to incorporate more plants in their diet on a regular basis. The evidence surrounding the benefits of a more plant predominate diet continues to emerge for a number of chronic diseases including heart disease, diabetes and cancer.
Did you know consuming beans, legumes, fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and whole grains can help you live longer and have improved quality of life, all from plants! Evidence based research shows plants help aid in brain health, energy level, weight loss, GI issues, improved immunity, enhance sleep and the list goes on and on. Variety is key and new research shows we should be aiming for 30 different types plants per week.
We encourage you to try a new recipe and/or put plant-based spin on oldie but goodie. If you are short of time and don’t feel like cooking, whole foods work just fine!
Zoom is available for those who cannot attend in person.
