CenterStage Theatre Season 2011-2012
Regional Debut:
Imagining Madoff
By Deborah Margolin
March 10 – 25, 2012Welcome to the world of Bernie Madoff. This shocking, new play by Obie Award-winning dramatist, Deborah Margolin dares to imagine the inner workings of the quietly bold and privately crass man who orchestrated the world's most infamous ponzi-scheme. Meet him in jail working his manipulation skills on a biographer. Be a fly on the wall during his private meeting with a renowned Holocaust survivor who becomes one of his most notable victims. Uncover the massive carnage in his wake as his executive secretary testifies before the Securities and Exchange Commission. Imagining Madoff is a poetic examination of morality and the power of blind trust.
“Imagining Madoff” is one play you must see. It is by far the best theatre around, a gripping bravura effort. – Register-Star
“Studded with dreams, parables, Talmudic quotations and dirty jokes that reverberate with meaning, Margolin’s mature and intriguing script is a far cry from the shallow re-creations of cable docudramas drawn from public records and overly concerned with real events.” – Jewish Daily Forward
Presented by special arrangement with the author.
