Wellness Wednesday – Stroke Awareness & Prevention
Wednesday, April 8 | 12:15–1:00 PM
In person at the JCC (Auditorium A) or on Zoom (recorded session)
Join us for an informative Wellness Wednesday with Angelina Wronski, RN, Stroke Coordinator at Unity Hospital. Angelina earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Rochester School of Nursing and began her nursing career in 2021 as a perioperative nurse specializing in neurosurgery, where she developed a strong foundation in complex neurological care. In 2023, she transitioned into the role of Stroke Coordinator at Unity Hospital, leading stroke quality initiatives and interdisciplinary collaboration to improve patient outcomes. Angelina is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Nursing at Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing and is deeply passionate about community education, stroke awareness, prevention, and equitable access to care.
Stroke remains one of the leading causes of disability and death in the United States, and the risk increases significantly with age. In fact, about 795,000 Americans experience a stroke each year—roughly one every 40 seconds. While strokes can occur at any age, prevalence rises sharply in older adults.
During this session, Angelina will discuss:
-
How strokes happen and why risk increases with age
-
The most common warning signs and how to act quickly
-
Prevention strategies that support healthy brain and heart aging
-
How community awareness and education can improve outcomes
Understanding the signs of stroke and taking steps to reduce risk can make a life-saving difference for you, your family, and your community. We hope you’ll join us for this important conversation about protecting brain health as we age.
