Monthly PBWF Pot-Luck

Wellness Wednesday: Monthly Plant-Based Whole Food Potluck

Wednesday, April 29 | 1:00–2:00 PM

Ertle Lounge – JCC

Join us for our monthly Plant-Based Whole Food (WFPB) Potluck, a fun and welcoming gathering where community members come together to share delicious plant-based foods, recipes, and ideas. Everyone is welcome!

To participate, please bring a plant-based dish to share that can serve about 6–8 people. This can be a prepared recipe or a simple whole food such as fruit, vegetables, beans, legumes, nuts, seeds, or whole grains. We also ask that you bring a list of ingredients or a copy of the recipe so others can learn from your dish and try it at home. Utensils will be provided.

This potluck is designed to inspire and encourage plant-forward cooking and eating. When people learn from each other—sharing recipes, techniques, and favorite ingredients—it often has a much greater impact than learning alone. It’s a supportive way to discover new foods, exchange ideas, and explore how plant-based meals can be both satisfying and nourishing.

Research continues to show meaningful health benefits from eating more whole plant foods. Diets rich in vegetables, fruits, beans, and whole grains have been associated with:

  • Lower risk of heart disease, the leading cause of death in the U.S.

  • Lower LDL (“bad”) cholesterol levels

  • Reduced risk of type 2 diabetes

  • Lower rates of obesity and high blood pressure

In fact, large population studies have found that people who follow predominantly plant-based eating patterns can have up to a 20–30% lower risk of cardiovascular disease compared with those eating typical Western diets. Increasing whole plant foods also provides fiber, antioxidants, and phytonutrients that support heart, gut, and metabolic health.

Whether you’re fully plant-based, plant-curious, or just looking for new healthy meal ideas, this gathering is a wonderful opportunity to taste new foods, learn from others, and build community around healthy eating. We hope you’ll join us!

Community members do not need to be JCC members to attend. This monthly potluck is open to the public as part of Rochester Regional Health + JCC + Lifespan commitment to empowering and supporting the health of our community.
Registration is required. You may register online in advance or sign in the same day at check-in. We never want registration to be a barrier—everyone is welcome.
