AARP Smart Driver Course
Refresh your driving skills with the AARP Smart Driver™ Course!
This is a one-day, 6 hour class taught by AARP®.
Course Objectives
- Learn research-based safety strategies that can reduce the likelihood of having a crash.
- Learn how aging, medications, alcohol, and other health-related issues affect driving ability, and ways to adjust to allow for these changes.
- Know how to drive safely when sharing the road with other road users.
- Learn when driving may no longer be safe.
- Learn the newest safety and advanced features in vehicles.
Course is taught by AARP® and was developed with input from a National Older Driver Safety Expert Panel, chaired by Dr. Joseph Coughlin of MIT AgeLab.
What to Bring with You
- AARP card if you are a member.
- Valid NYS Driver’s License
Payment
Cost is determined by AARP® and goes directly to AARP®. You may pay by cash or check (make out to AARP). You will not be able to pay when you register online. Please bring cash or check with you to the class.

Registration: Class size is limited; please pre-register!
Lunch:
There will be a 30 minute break for lunch. We recommend you bring your own lunch. You may also purchase lunch from Fox’s Deli at the JCC but keep in mind that lines may be long and class starts promptly after the lunch break. If you want to arrive at 9:00 am when Fox’s opens, you may be able to pre-order.
