Curating Jewish Type Collections
with Shani Avni
Ismar David Visiting Assistant Curator
RIT Cary Graphic Arts Collection
Explore the RIT Cary Graphic Arts Collection’s rare Hebrew/Yiddish wood type, used by Jewish-American printers around 1900. This newly restored collection offers insights into immigrant presses in the U.S., the cultural impact of Jewish communities, the Yiddish language, and the transformation of Hebrew script into movable type. Speaker Shani Avni will share her work with this “living archive” in teaching, printing, and research.
