Our community is built on the belief that everyone deserves to feel welcomed, valued, and respected. These shared norms help us create a space where people can connect, learn, and belong.
The People: Whether you’re a facilitator, instructor, volunteer, or participant, we all help create a positive experience by:
- Greeting people warmly as they arrive.
- Making a special effort to welcome new faces.
- Encouraging participation while honoring each person’s comfort level.
- Treating one another with kindness, compassion, and respect.
- Helping create an environment where everyone feels included and valued
The Space: Let’s take care of the spaces we share by:
- Returning tables and chairs to their original arrangement if you move them.
- Starting on time (a five-minute grace period is perfectly okay).
- Waiting until your scheduled time to start.
- Finishing on time so the next group or cleaning staff can prepare the space.
- Taking any trash or recycling with you before you leave.
- Returning JCC equipment (water pitchers, mah jong sets, cards, paint brushes, etc.) where you found it.
Together, we create a community where everyone feels welcome, respected, and empowered to participate. By practicing these norms, we strengthen our relationships, enrich our programs, and help every person experience a true sense of belonging.
