Wellness Wednesday – Allergic to Medications? Understanding Drug Allergies and Reactions
Wellness Wednesday: Allergic to Medications? Understanding Drug Allergies and Reactions
Wednesday, May 20| 12:15–1:00 PM
In person at the JCC (Auditorium A) or on Zoom (recorded session)
Join us for our next Wellness Wednesday as we welcome expert physician Allison Ramsey, specializing in Allergy and Immunology at Rochester Regional Health.
Dr. Ramsey’s research and clinical expertise focus on drug allergies, an area that often causes confusion and concern for many patients. She will help us better understand how drug allergies are diagnosed, when they are truly dangerous, and when people may be able to safely take medications they?ve been avoiding.
During this talk, Dr. Ramsey will discuss common medication allergies, including:
• Penicillin and other antibiotics
• Sulfonamide antibiotics (?sulfa? medications)
• Reactions to contrast dye used for imaging studies such as CT scans
The session will conclude with an open Q&A, so bring your questions about seasonal allergies, medication reactions, food allergies, and other allergy-related concerns.
This is a great opportunity to learn practical, evidence-based information from a local expert and get your allergy questions answered.
Community members do not need to be JCC members to attend. These sessions are free and open to the public as part of Rochester Regional Health’s commitment to empowering and supporting the health of our community.
Registration is required. You may register online in advance or sign in the same day at check-in. We never want registration to be a barrier – everyone is welcome.
Zoom is available for those who cannot attend in person.
