Wellness Wednesday: Managing Stress & Anxiety Through Lifestyle Medicine + Monthly Plant-Based Potluck

Wednesday, January 28 | 12:15–1:00 PM

In person Aud A JCC & via Zoom

Join us for an engaging and practical Wellness Wednesday presentation with Dr. Munoz, who will share evidence-based tips for managing stress and anxiety using the Six Pillars of Lifestyle Medicine. These pillars—nutrition, physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, social connection, and avoidance of risky substances—offer powerful, everyday tools to support emotional wellbeing and overall health.

Dr. Munoz is a triple board-certified physician with expertise in Family Medicine, Preventive Medicine/Public Health, and Lifestyle Medicine. She is a graduate of Brighton High School and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Spanish Literature from Columbia College, her Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, and a Master of Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley. She completed her residency training in Family Medicine and Preventive Medicine/Public Health at the University of Rochester Medical Center and is board certified in all three specialties. Dr. Munoz has also completed her Health Coaching Certification through the American Council on Exercise.

A proud Puerto Rican, Dr. Munoz is bilingual in English and Spanish and grew up in the Rochester suburbs, where she still lives today. Outside of medicine, she enjoys salsa dancing, hiking, biking, gardening, spending time in nature, cooking, and experimenting with new plant-based recipes.

This session will empower attendees with approachable, realistic strategies to reduce stress and anxiety and build resilience through lifestyle choices. All are welcome.

The evidence surrounding the benefits of a more plant-predominate diet continues to emerge for preventing a number of chronic diseases including heart disease, diabetes and cancer. Did you know consuming beans, legumes, fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and whole grains can help you live longer and have improved quality of life, all from plants! Evidence based research shows plants help aid in brain health, energy level, weight loss, GI issues, improved immunity, enhance sleep and the list goes on and on. Variety is key and new research shows we should be aiming for 30 different types of plants each week. See Nurse Trudy with any questions or need ideas on what to bring.
